MICHAEL SCHATZ
COLORIST
Michael Schatz, also known as “The Scarlet Rebel”, has brought his eye for color to a number of film projects, shorts, docs, music videos, and commercials. A graduate of the editing/ directing MFA program at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, Michael began his career as Assistant Colorist at Company3 Santa Monica, where he honed his skills on hundreds of projects across media. He then worked as the in-house colorist for Tastemade, where he developed their color workflow, before joining the team at RKM Studios.
Michael's work has been nominated for the upcoming 2021 Colorist Awards for best color in the Music Video category for his color on "Riot" by Jon Fields. He was also featured on the long list for best color in the documentary category. The Emmy award-winning Season 1 of "Broken Bread" was colored by Michael as well. His talent for color can also be seen on as an additional colorist on the festival award winning feature film “Cicada Song.”
His clients include artists such as Avril Lavigne, Silversun Pickups, Nothing Nowhere, Nekrogoblikon, BIIANCO, and brands such as Hyundai, McDonald's, and the NFL.
